Addressing food insecurity caused by factors like conflict and climate change, the project explores insects as an alternative food source due to their accessibility, sustainability, and nutritional value. Insect consumption, already a cultural norm in rural areas like Limpopo and KZN, is gaining popularity globally.
In Cape Town, The Insect Experience, a pioneering restaurant collaborating with Gourmet-Grubb, offers insect-based dishes for a unique dining experience. To promote this innovative concept, Food and Home magazine will publish an energetic and honest editorial, featuring the restaurant's history and their own dining experience, accompanied by a free specimen poster displaying various insects, herbs, and spices used in the dishes. The tone of voice and zoological illustration style used for the glyphs portray insect consumption as beautiful and delightful, motivating readers to include insects in their diets and support The Insect Experience.
